There’s an old saying that it’s best to be the first born, second spouse and the third listing agent. So whose fault is it when a property doesn’t sell?

There are thousands of reasons that cause listings to expire. An agent may do everything possible and the property still doesn’t sell due to lack of activity in that price range or location. Other times, the listing agent didn’t market the property adequately, or conditions under the seller’s control prevented the sale. In almost every case, however, the reason most properties do not sell is the price.

BTO v Resale flat: What adds up for first-timers?

The grant boost may not be enough for some, but sends a strong signal of family foundation

Young home-buyers have cheered Monday’s Budget which announced generous increases in grants for resale flats.

The enhanced Central Provident Fund Housing Grant, previously capped at $30,000, has been raised to $50,000 for first-timers who turn to the resale market for four-room and smaller flats. And it has risen from $30,000 to $40,000 for five-room and larger flats.

Higher CPF Housing Grant: No big increase in resale market prices, say analysts

SINGAPORE: Final-year university student Belle Low has been looking to settle down with her boyfriend of four years.

So far, her search for a first home has been concentrated largely on Build-to-Order (BTO) flats. But she said the increase in the CPF Housing Grant has opened up an additional option for them: the resale market.
